For the dumpster relocation portion of the schoolyard redevelopment, based on community feedback collected over the first three weeks of July 2025, the following option, “C1” (relocated to the parking lot with additional improvements) is the preferred option by the most stakeholders. We are currently progressing the detailed design, budgeting, and then construction on this option. We are also accepting additional feedback, especially if there are ideas for improvements to this option, until Wednesday July 23rd. The intent is to provide a final decision on Thursday, July 24th, provided in email to the community members that provided their email address through the various means of feedback. Please see the following DRAFT information for further consideration and the below link for providing feedback.
7.18.25 - Current Preferred Option: “Location C1”:
Modeling of garbage truck turning radii (final dumpster placement different than shown) - intent to show the dimensional considerations taken into consideration of the final design for the project.

Construction for Humboldt Park’s schoolyard redevelopment is slated to begin in summer 2025.
Humboldt Park School is located in Milwaukee’s Bay View Neighborhood within the Kinnickinnic River Watershed and the city’s Separated Sewer System. The conceptual plan calls for the removal of 16,250 sq. ft. asphalt and replacing it with new green space and mixed-use recreation and educational areas. The design includes two outdoor classrooms areas, an underground cistern, and the addition of 25 stormwater trees. The inclusion of a variety of native plantings allow for unique spaces on the schoolyard that can represent natural Wisconsin ecosystems, complete with student created signage. The vision also includes a porous, synthetic turf soccer field to further manage rainwater where it falls. The plan manages approximately 182,275 gallons of stormwater per rain event.
